Hi
Wendy.
I'm certain that by now you receive numerous such letters, saying much
of the same,
but I really wanted to thank you for the
amazing web site, chronicling your experiences
at USC.
I have applied to the Graduate Production program at USC for the Fall 2002 semester.
I'm
in the process of getting an MFA in Poetry at
Sarah Lawrence College
near NYC.
(I graduate in May.) My undergrad is in Theatre.
I felt buoyed and encouraged by
your 'story' because mine is not dissimilar: I lost both
parents my first two years of undergrad, which,
like you, was while I was at USC. Of
course,
everyone experiences personal loss, but it's always encouraging to hear about
those who come through with such strength and grace.
Anyhow, this summer,
contemplating my career choices upon graduating, with my
second degree in the
arts--in a country infamous for starving its artists--it occurred
to me
(while watching the credits for Anniversary Party) that Film editing
was perhaps
the best blending of my talents, interests, and knowledge.
So I decided that
maybe I wasn't quite finished with school. And since I was a
Trojan
before, I knew that the only way to have any kind of hope for job security in the field,
was to return to USC.
That is when I began my
research and found your site. I spent two nearly sleepless nights
this August, reading all of the information posted
about your experiences at USC. It was
100 times more helpful than the USC site. And now, I just finished reading the
last post
for this semester. Congratulations on getting green lit!
I won't find out until April if I'm accepted. Regardless, I am so appreciative of
finding your
site and
learning about your experiences. Good luck in all your endeavors & happy
holidays!
Cheers,
Tara Pearson
