Dear Wendy,

On behalf of the Academy, let me welcome you to the Twenty-Eighth Annual Student Academy Awards competition. Through this letter, I would like to inform you of the sequence of events which follows the regional competitions.

If your film is selected to compete as a Regional finalist, you will be asked to deliver a print of your film to the Regional Coordinator within 7 days of notification. If your entry is not selected to compete as a Regional finalist, the Regional Coordinator will return it directly to you. All films winning the Regional finals will be sent to the Academy.

At the Academy, these films will be viewed by the Academy members for final voting. All Regional finalist will be notified of the results of the judging by May 21st. Entries not receiving awards will be returned to the person indicated of the entry form.

The Academy recognizes outstanding achievements in student filmmaking in several ways. First, it presents gold, silver and bronze awards in the form of Saul Bass designed trophies along with scholarship grants. All National finalists will be invited to Las Angeles, expenses paid, for the Awards week where gold, silver and bronze winners will be revealed and honored at the June 10th ceremony. In addition, the Academy distributes the gold medal award-winning films, free of charge, in the form of a videotape compilation for screenings at college campuses and non-profit organizations nationwide throughout the following year.

Thank you for entering the Twenty-Eighth Annual Student Academy Awards program and we wish you the very best in the competition and in your future filmmaking endeavors.

Sincerely,

Richard Miller
Awards Administration Director
